Well, WOW! This warm Brie appetiser is a quick and easy entertaining option and… trust me when I tell you, it will disappear FAST!
It’s a recipe that started out as one idea and by the time it was complete, it had morphed into a totally different one. The original idea was to bake up some wanton cups filled with Brie, a fruity spiced jam and topped with crushed pistachios.
My whole intention was a Christmas recipe so I chose typical Christmas fruits for the jam – cranberries and cherries. The resulting jam is a tart, sweet (but not too sweet) flavour bomb. Infused with orange and cinnamon, it really is a great accompaniment for cheese.
When I first made the jam, I tasted it with a piece of Brie and really enjoyed it. My sister was here at the time and said the jam was amazing and reminded her of Christmas.
She then suggested using it in a baked pastry wrapped Brie! I loved the idea, but decided that I’d first see if I could do it all in the Thermomix. I wasn’t sure how Brie would go being steamed, but there was only one way to find out… The test proved mighty successful!
This is such a genius way to make a quick appetiser that is sure to impress. Seriously, it just works so well.
What’s so good about this…
1. Well, oozy Brie cheese… do I really need to say more?!
2. The combination of melty cheese and sweet-tart festively flavoured jam.
3. There’s no added sugar. No need!
4. It’s one of the yummiest things I’ve ever eaten. Seriously.
5. It’s ready in just over ten minutes – that’s including prep AND cooking!
6. It uses just five ingredients.
Just 5 ingredients needed!
You read right, only five ingredients are needed to make this amazing melty, cheesy, slightly sweet appetiser:
Oranges
Of which we use a strip of zest removed with a peeler, and 200g juice. Even though I’ve only pictured one, I ended up needing a little over 1.5 large oranges to get 200g juice.
Oranges and cranberries are a match made in heaven so I had no doubt the liquid in this Christmas jam needed to be orange juice.
Fresh cherries
I have a cool little kitchen gadget for removing the seeds, it’s a Tupperware nut cracker and has a little bit that pits cherries, olives, etc. These add sweetness and of course that gorgeous cherry flavour.
Ground cinnamon
Not too much, just a smidge to give a bit of Christmas spice.
Dried cranberries
These add a tartness that is quite uniquely cranberry! They rehydrate a bit while cooking and are not at all ‘dried’ in the end product.
Brie
Of course, Brie. The magic that happens to the Brie upon steaming in the Thermomix is sheer brilliance. As soon as you cut into it, out oozes the melty, cheesy goodness.
So how do we make this awesome looking Warm Brie with Quick Christmas Jam?
The Brie warms through in the simmering basket while the festively flavoured jam cooks underneath.
It has a total cooking time of just 10 minutes!
The four ingredients for the jam go into the bowl…
Then the simmering basket is inserted. Into that we place the Brie, which we’ve wrapped in a piece of baking paper…
The jam cooks and the steam produced warms the Brie to perfect meltiness.
It’s ready in just 10 minutes!
Unwrap the warm Brie and if there is any moisture on or around the cheese, mop it up with a piece of paper towel. It is very fragile so the best way to serve it is on top of the baking paper it was wrapped in for steaming. You can move it off if preferred, but work very very carefully as it may burst on it’s way to the plate.
Spoon the jam on top of the Brie. You may use it all, or you may not. If you do have leftover Christmas jam, you can add it cold to your next cheese platter, spread it onto a sandwich, serve with scrambled eggs, or with a roast.
Slice into the cheesy, jammy deliciousness and spread onto crackers. Honestly, this will not last long, it is ahhhhmazing!
More easy cheesy appetisers
I do have a bit of a ‘thing’ for cheese. I love it! So I have a few other cheesy, creamy recipes that are also perfect for entertaining. Check these out:

Warm Brie with Quick Christmas Jam
Ingredients
- 50 g dried cranberries
- 10 cherries pitted (60g pitted weight)
- 0.25 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1.5 -2 large oranges
- 200 g wheel of Brie
Instructions
- Place cranberries, cherries, cinnamon, 1 strip orange rind (removed with a vegetable peeler) and 200g orange juice in mixer bowl.
- Set simmering basket in place inside bowl. Discard packaging from Brie and re-wrap with a piece of baking paper. Place in the simmering basket. Cook 10 minutes/steaming temperature/speed 1/MC on.
- Remove basket containing wrapped Brie and set aside. If jam still has some thin liquid through it, cook a further 1-2 minutes/steaming temperature/speed 1/MC on. You may or may not need to do this extra bit of cooking, it will depend on several factors including which machine you're using, brand of cranberries, how dehydrated they are, etc.
- Carefully unwrap Brie. If there is any moisture on or around the Brie, it can be mopped up with a piece of paper towel. Transfer to a serving platter. Spoon Christmas Jam on top liberally. Serve immediately with crackers and veggie sticks. It's a good idea to keep Brie on the baking paper, as it should be handled as little as possible when cooked so as to avoid it bursting.

This is simply to die for. And don’t just serve it with cheese. Try turkey, chicken or ham. Put it on a toasted sandwich with ham and melty cheese. ?
Yum I’m thinking of doubling this and using for a Brie Christmas Eve and the remainder served Christmas Day instead of cranberry sauce.
You had me at warm brie. This sounds amazing! I’ll be adding it to my Christmas snack list 🙂
Hmmmm baked brie – say no more! The spiced, citrusy sauce sounds like the perfect addition to this appetiser as well, so great for parties and festive gatherings!
