
The most divine fig jam recipe you’ll find, the Thermomix makes this quickly and easily!
I have other jam recipes here on my blog and I love them… but I have to say this – this Fig Jam is the BEST one!
Using honey as one of the sweeteners adds a lovely element. That, combined with that unique figgy texture and a lovely mix of subtle spices, makes this jam just beautiful.
Adding lemon towards the end of the cooking time makes the flavours really pop!
Sourcing figs for jam
Figs can be a little difficult to come by if you don’t have a (or have a friend) with a fig tree! I find the best way to buy them (without having to sell a limb to afford them) is farm direct.
Recently I visited Spring Hill Orchard after seeing on their Facebook group that they had a vendor coming along to their farm shop to sell figs! I have been to Spring Hill Orchard before and their fruit is always amazingly fresh and well priced. If you’re a Perth local and want to try your luck at nabbing some figs there, check their Facebook page first as they post weekly the list of fruits they will have available. I do recommend visiting for other fresh fruits too!
In the past, I’ve also bought jamming figs at reasonable prices at Sunday markets and once I picked some up on their very last legs from my local fruit and veg shop.
Don’t go using top quality fresh figs for jam! The riper (any) fruit is, the better it is for jam making! Just check out these imperfect beauties I used to make fig jam in my Thermomix today!
Making Spiced Fig, Honey & Lemon Jam in the Thermomix
Jam is something the Thermomix does so very well! A handful of ingredients, throw them in, cook it up, done.
I’ve stated on the recipe that the figs should be roughly chopped. All you really need to do, is tear them each into a few pieces. The pieces don’t have to be even sizes – rough enough IS good enough!
Seven ingredients is all that’s needed for this one:
Figs
Honey and sugar, for sweetness
Spices, namely cinnamon, cloves and vanilla, for flavour
Lemon juice, to really bring out the flavours
Everything except the lemon juice goes in and is cooked for half an hour. After this time, we add the lemon juice and cook a further 5 minutes. Done!
When the Thermomix finishes cooking the jam, pour into hot sterilised jars.
I use 8oz Ball Mason jars and the recipe fills four of them.
You can then put the lids on and leave to cool to room temp, then pop in the fridge. Even better is to water bath the jars to ensure perfect seals and the longest life for them.

Spiced Fig, Honey and Lemon Jam
Ingredients
- 1 kg figs roughly chopped
- 150 g sugar coconut sugar and rapadura give best results, raw sugar is also delicious
- 120 g honey
- 2 tsp vanilla extract or 1 tsp powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
- 40 g lemon juice
Instructions
- Place figs, sugar, honey and spicesĀ in mixer bowl. Cook 30 minutes/steaming temperature/speed 2/MC off, basket sitting on top of the lid to prevent splatters.
- Add lemon juice. Cook 5 minutes/steaming temperature/speed 2/MC on.
- Transfer hot jam into hot, sterilised jars. Seal immediately.

Just discovered your page..recipe sounds great. Im just concerned the amount of sugar will be enough to preserve the jam. I normally allow minimum 65% sugar to preserve well.

Also, can you use packet figs or do they need to be fresh?
You can definitely use dried figs, you need to rehydrate them first. I will give you some exact instructions on this later today or tomorrow. I hope that’s ok

I cooked mine all on reverse to try to retain some texture to the figs but it didn’t seem to make too much difference š
